Weight Gain and Body Image During Pregnancy

KLW Pregnancy 17 wks to 26 wksI remember taking the pic on the left a few weeks ago and thinking I was getting huge at the time. One thing I have learned throughout this pregnancy journey is to appreciate your body at any given time. I am aware now that I never did!

As someone who has previously struggled with eating disorders and body image issues, I’m still my own worst critic. Before I got pregnant I was thinking I had to get in better shape (the journey never ends right!) and now I look back and can’t wait to get that body back again!

Almost every woman I have spoken to goes through the struggle of body change during pregnancy. It weighs on their moods and emotions and I get it. At the beginning it did the same to me too!

But here’s the thing … creating a human life is the most amazing experience ever! Yes, not always glamorous and it’s hard work, but what an amazing journey!

For those struggling with the body image change know that you’re not alone. It’s normal! But here’s the good news … it’s also temporary!

Eat healthy, fuel yourself and your little one with the highest quality nutrition possible, and continue working out (provided you have no complications and have been given the green light to do so). Your workouts don’t have to be intense at this point but just keep yourself moving. It will do your mental health a world of good I promise you that!!
